Visitation, funeral arrangements set for beloved Retired Pearland Police Chief JC Doyle

Joseph Christopher Doyle was born April 22, 1956 in Orange, TX. He was preceded in death by parents Leo and Jeanne Doyle and an infant brother. He is survived by sister Lee Ann Doyle. He is also survived by his wife and soulmate Terrie Doyle; daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Gilbert Flores, their son Cason and much-anticipated daughter Claire; son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Caitlin Taylor and their children Ben and Rosie; and by son and best friend Jacob Doyle.

JC Doyle graduated from Pearland High School in 1974 and began a storied law enforcement career at the Pearland Police Department in January 1979. He promoted to Sergeant in 1981 and received numerous commendations, letters, and awards.

In 1993 he was promoted to Lieutenant and soon became a founding member, and the first commander, of a multi-agency tactical unit called the Combined Agency Response Team, which still operates to this day.

In 1995 he was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police and four years later became Chief of Police of his beloved hometown agency on March 23, 1999. Chief Doyle oversaw many changes to Pearland PD during very challenging times of exponential growth of the city.

On May 31, 2017 Chief Doyle retired from the City of Pearland after 38 years of dedicated service. He retired as the longest serving Chief of Police in department history. He retired as the third longest serving officer and fourth longest serving employee in city history. It is estimated that of the 164 officers and 67 civilian employees currently employed at the Pearland Police Department, 75% were hired by Chief Doyle.

Joseph Christopher Doyle died on April 3, 2019 having made a positive impact on so many citizens, employees and, most importantly, family in the course of his life. His contribution to the City of Pearland will never be forgotten.

Jacob is pursuing his father’s commitment to service in becoming a firefighter. The family would like to thank the community for the outpouring of love and affection during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Niday Funeral Home, 12440 Beamer Road, Houston 77089.

The service honoring Chief Doyle’s life will be held at 11:00am Monday, April 8, 2019, at Sagemont Church, 11300 S Sam Houston Pkwy E, Houston 77089.
