Pearland ‘Porch Pirates’ arrested

Pearland, Texas – The Pearland Police Department has arrested two suspects who have been stealing packages from homes in and around the Pearland Area. Through the hard work of detectives and assistance from residential security cameras, the Pearland Police Department was able to identify and arrest the two suspects involved in “Porch Pirate” thefts.

Pearland Police Department received calls after thefts of packages left on porches of local residences. Officers learned of surveillance video of the theft caught by the reportee’s own camera system. It didn’t take long for investigators to discover the identities of the suspects caught in the act on camera. Dawn M. Taylor and Corbin Taylor had arrest warrants issued for them and have since been located and placed into custody for their actions. Had it not been for these actions caught on camera, it would have taken considerably longer to bring these two to justice.

The Pearland Police Department has recently joined the “Neighbors” app by Ring as a new tool providing real-time crime and safety information to our community. Ring launched the “Neighbors” app as a free way to for communities and law enforcement to share criminal information whether they own Ring systems or any other security devices.

Residents can download the free Neighbors app, join their neighborhood, and use the app to: monitor neighborhood activity; share crime and safety-related videos, photos and text-based posts; and receive safety alerts from their neighbors, local law enforcement and the Ring team.
