Amid fears about the coronavirus spreading and in anticipation of quarantine, thousands of people are panic-shopping and hoarding many common supplies like hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, bottled water and of course, toilet paper.
Across the country grocery store shelves are bare of toilet paper, but some people are finding it — and stealing it — from small mom and pop businesses.
The owners of The Drink Station in Pearland say they were robbed on Wednesday by a man they refer to as a “fine gentleman.”
In a Facebook post, the owners explain what happened in the restaurant,
I just want to give a shout out to this fine gentleman.
Because he stole every last roll of our toilet paper in the Pearland location today.
First he stole our Nintendo Switch, one of our brave baristas made a big show of looking for it while wondering if we should call the cops, but he put it back out of being nervous.
But oh no, that wasn’t enough, he stayed and stayed and finally decided to steal all the toilet paper.
I have to be honest, I’m feeling pretty strangled right now trying to keep my employees employed, having money for rent, not completely losing my mind with the new situation at hand…
And so to steal all our toilet paper, I can honestly say I feel like someone spit in my face
